MOGADISHU (HOL – Prime Minister Mohamed Roble has called for an end to the ongoing fighting in some areas in Hiiraan region.
According to a statement from the Office of the Prime Minister, Roble urged the Defow and Kabanhley clans to stop the fighting and find a solution to the conflict.
The PM’S remarks come amid escalating clashes between militias of the two clans this week.
HirShabelle President Ali Gudlawe also echoed the PM’S call to end the violence. He urged clan elders and security agencies in the region to move with haste in taming the conflict.
Meanwhile the Minister of Federalism and Reconciliation Mukhtar Afrah said his Ministry had already set the groundwork to lead reconciliation process in the region.
The recent clashes come amid instability in Beletwyene as the region prepares to conduct Lower House elections.
