Authorities nab suspected TPLF members in Somali state, Ethiopia

JIGJIGA (HOL)  – Police in Ethiopia’s Somali state said Tuesday they dismantled TPLF sleeper cells as the ongoing fighting in Tigray region spreads to to the parts of the country.

According to a statement from the regional authority, the individuals belonging to the Tigray Peoples Liberation Front (TPLF) which has been declared a terrorist organisation by the Federal Government were nabbed following a tip off from the members of the public.

The individuals are believed to be allied to the former Somali state president Abdi Iley and authorities have accused them of trying to ‘undermine security’ in the state.

Police have also linked them to the recent classes between Oromos and Somalis.
