Somalia, Italy sign debt forgiveness agreement in Mogadishu

Thursday, March 11, 2021 (HOL) – Somalia’s Minister of Finance Dr. Abdirahman Duale Beyle has today signed an agreement with the Italian ambassador to Somalia on debt forgiveness in Mogadishu.

Debt rescheduling agreement signed by the Italian government and follows the decision in Paris or the Paris Club in looga forgiven 1.4 billion last year in the 2020.

“Today we signed an agreement with the Italian government debt following the decision to pardon Paris Club countries in looga forgiven 1.4 billion last year from 2020 on. I would like to thank the Italian Ambassador to Somalia, Mr Alberto Vecchi specifically worked with us on the signing possible today. ” The Somali Minister of Finance said.

The Somali government says it is working to complete the country’s debt relief.
